Anil and I met at South by Southwest in Austin in 2001. Anil, Brad Graham, Wes Felter, Dan Budiac, and I were heading for Katz’s Deli on 6th St. After going to the address we were given and realizing that we’d gone east instead of west, we turned around and began the long walk.

On the way, a sudden thunderstorm began and the heavens opened up. We began to run and were soaked to the skin by the time we got to Katz’s. We just laughed maniacally all the way there, and despite our waterlogged clothes, we kept the jokes flying for the next few hours.

Someone (Anil, I think) said, “Rain can make brothers out of strangers.”
